DEFUNIAK SPRINGS – Business owners and residents in the area of Northwest Florida State College off U.S. Highway 90 in DeFuniak Springs who experienced an interruption in their water service Tuesday, June 16, are advised to boil their water before consumption until further notice.
The City issues this notice in compliance with state requirements when water pressure decreases to certain levels in the City’s water mains leading to homes and businesses. Those impacted by Tuesday’s water main shut-off are home and business owners along U.S. Highway 90 between Shoemaker Drive and Northwest Florida State College.
“The City had to interrupt water service on June 16 due to an unexpected break in the City’s water main,” says City Manager Mell Smigielski in a press release. “The problem is fixed, but we now must ask all home and business owners impacted by the shut-off to please boil their water before consumption or washing dishes until further notice.”
Updates will be provided on the City of DeFuniak Springs Facebook page and on the City’s website at www.defuniaksprings.net home page. Questions about the service interruption may be directed to City Manager Mell Smigielski at (850) 892-8500 or by emailing the city manager at email@example.com during normal business hours. Water customers may also contact the DeFuniak Springs Public Works Department at (850) 892-8534 24-hours a day.
